What year did you participate in the initiative? What’s your song title?
2020, “Que Bueno Es Perdonar”
What motivated you to compose the song about world peace and participate in the initiative?
I have been writing songs about Autism Awareness, Anti-Discrimination, Life’s Philosophy, Human Vulnerability, etc. And one day I saw the application through my college about writing a song about social change and world peace, and thought this would be the song I was lacking in my repertoire and it would be an important message for the World, our home.
" I have been writing songs about Autism Awareness, Anti-Discrimination, Life’s Philosophy, Human Vulnerability, etc."
What does your song tell the world? Could you share with us the background and what brought you to write the song?
“My song “Que Bueno es Perdonar” which means “How great is to Forgive” is about forgiveness and to let go. I think most of our past and actual world wars are incited/provoked by the fact of not wanting to let go our anger and it gradually ignite revenges.
" This song is about a woman who was wrongfully convicted of a crime which made her spend 5 years in jail unfairly."
How did your song or your participation in the initiative positively impact you?
It really gives me encouragement to keep writing more songs with positive messages. Because of my participation at SWP, nowadays I keep receiving requests from nonprofit foundations and cause to write songs that represent them. I recently wrote a song for a Foundation called “Proyecto Mujeres” in Panama, the name of the song is “Otra Oportunidad”. This song is about a woman who was wrongfully convicted of a crime which made her spend 5 years in jail unfairly. The song is also representing the self encouragement of all those womens who’d spent long time in jail that there will always be new beginnings with their lives afterwards.
How did your song or your participation in the initiative positively impact your friends and family members?
I remember when I sang this song on stage at the 2022 Chinese New Year Event in Panama, I heard the audience singing along with me, it really impacted me in a good way, it actually bounced me back the magic of “delivering a message to your audience” with your own interpretation.
How did your song or your participation in the initiative positively impact your community?
Before I sang this song on stage, I told the audience that I came from a very united culture and that whenever we celebrate the New Year, the first thing we should solve out it is to forgive and reconcile with our loved one/family so we can move on to a clean and happy new year. This song actually helped a lot of Panamanian families to reconcile before the end of 2022.
If relevant, what are the challenges for you to be involved in social change as an artist and how could Song for World Peace help you?
By you interviewing me right now, it is the best help. I feel like SWP is a reminder to myself that when you do things without expecting a return, that is when you do things in a better way. There were a lot of challenges during Covid-19 because it made me change my career, but the good thing is I am seeing myself heading back to more music step by step because that is what I want the most!
What would be a potential impact that you and your music could make, to the world?
I wish to stop all wars through music, I might have to declare it right now and hopefully it will happen tomorrow!
What’s your goal as an Artist?
I really don’t have any specific goal, I was singing today at a Preschool towards children of the age group of 2-5 as my outreach job position responsibility, but I found myself already reaching a goal by seeing their smiles and dancing while I was playing some of their favorite songs. Maybe my main goal is to be present at every moment of my life?!
Anything you would like to promote? - Upcoming releases, events, etc.
Surely! I am actually working on a very meaningful project. A Film and Documentary Company “Vivo Films” chose me to be the composer for the soundtrack of their upcoming Movie “Señales”. The goal of this movie is to make awareness/call for action against Femicide in Latin America. I hope I could share more about this project with you in the near future, I can definitely tell you the name of my new song “No Se Lastima” it is about how someone survived despite of the worst violence that one would have gone through.
